Facility Maintenance Technician

Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society is searching for an experienced individual to fill our vacant facility maintenance technician position.

Craigdarroch Castle, located in Victoria British Columbia, is designated a National Historic Site that is open year-round. The Society is a not-for-profit organization with 15 permanent staff, supported by seasonal staff and volunteers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing maintenance, housekeeping, and janitorial duties for all 4 Society properties and grounds. This is a full-time position that reports to the restoration manager and works closely with the operation manager to provide leadership in facility operations.

Do you have the skills necessary to support housekeepers in their duties, oversee proper maintenance and storage of supplies? Do you have an understanding of equipment and machinery maintenance and are you comfortable assisting with general rental property maintenance?

We are looking for a person with some combination of skills in light carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting and equipment maintenance as well as experience with janitorial or maintenance work. If this sounds like you, please submit your application and review the job description here.

This is a union position with CUPE Local 3136. The annual wage is $30.60/hour, and the probationary period is six months. Upon successful completion of the probationary period the Society offers health care benefits and participation in the Union’s pension plan. The Society works on a compressed work week with staff working 36 hours a week. You will work four nine hour days with three days off each week.
